Random Thoughts from the Cool Capital of the US

My 3 favorite girls (plus 1) in the whole world just left on a trip to Philadelphia and New Jersey to visit family and friends. So I will be playing bachelor for the next week.

Kim, Leslianna and Luna are off on an adventure.

The forth lady is a friend who spends the summer in Maine and then the rest of the year in Philadelphia. She is one of my favorite photographers. You can see a sample of her work on Marie’s instagram page. https://www.instagram.com/mariascati

We have had many wonderful walks thru the Maine woods
This is definitely a dark sky location

I know it’s a bad photo taken with my cell phone, but it at least shows what it looks like almost every night.

I have 3 photos on display for FOTOSEPTIEMBRE 2024

I am lucky to have some photos on display thru the end of the month for the Fotoseptiembre at the Lions Field Club on Broadway in San Antonio Texas. 2024 is their 30th year of presenting photography exhibitions in San Antonio, Austin, and the Texas Hill Country.

Ok one more random thing. This is not a political blog but I thought it interesting that Maine is just like every other state in the Union and I think that these photos illustrate that.

Anyway, I just thought it was interesting! See you all soon.

Still Here and Still Enjoying Life.

This has just been a very wonderful trip. We have certainly enjoyed the cooler weather. Highs in the low 70’s have meant long pants and flannel shirts. Just perfect for an aging couple.

We have been remodeling Leslianna’s bath

But in between the work, Kim has enjoyed her watercolors and I have enjoyed my photography.

Kim has moved here art studio back to the trailer.
An abandoned truck.

And I just continue to try and find beauty in the simplest of things.

A boat caught out in the fog.
A lonely cove on the early morning

We still have a good bit of work to do on the bathroom, but we also we will find the time to continue enjoy this magical part of Maine.

Things are Humming Along Nicely

We have been working on Leslianna’s compound, so to reward us she cooked up a few lobsters.

Yummy!

We stopped at the local lobster market, and one of the workers was happy to show us some rare blue lobsters that one of the boats had brought in. I asked him if he ever ate one and he replied, “I don’t eat them…at all!”

They were indeed, pretty blue!

Just a short walk from the lobster shack was a beautiful small bay with fog that had begun to roll in.

Fog, and a beautiful secluded bay to photograph. It doesn’t get any better than that.
Here is Kim enjoying the fog.
Then it really started to roll in.

We are truly both enjoying the scenery and the cooler weather.

See you next time.

We are Settling in Nicely

Days have settled into a nice rhythm with relaxation in the cool early morning, and then some work on Leslianna’s 10 acres. After a hardy lunch we always try to find an adventure. There are so many interesting and beautiful places to go that I am sure that we will not exhaust even if we stay a few months.

Here is Kim painting the stairways railing
And here is Kim painting in her makeshift studio.
We took a short drive to Reed State Park. It’s beautiful, huh?
Another more arty view of the park.
I can’t help myself. I promise that this is the last image….until nextime
