On My Way Home….One Day Early!

Tomorrow, which was to be my departure, is expecting an additional 6”-12” of snow, so I decided to come home a day early. Unfortunately, I am flying through Detroit, which has it own snow problem With luck I will thread the needle of disasters. Winter storm warning is in effect for 7pm, and I am set to fly out at 6.

Leslianna is prepared and waiting for the storm to hit.
Some of the roads haven’t even been cleared up from the last storm.
We did get her tub plumbed and ready for use.
Some trim and finishing touches
Full moon saying a good bye

Let it Snow, Let it Snow!

We are probably ups to 10 inches of snow just this week, and from all indications it is not done yet.

We have had many great walks Some of them even along the ocean where it is especially magical.

It really doesn’t get much better than this.

However, I do have to remember that I am here to help Leslianna finish her house.

Here we are making a door out of scrap lumber. .

But there is still a lot of time to be had just going out for winter walks.

What would normally be crowded, we now have all to ourselves.

Beauty can be found in the simplest of things.

I do, however, wish that it was just a little bit warmer, but I think that I can put up with another week of this? After all it is 80 in Texas!

This morning it was -4 degrees.

And So I find myself back in Maine

Airports, they all look the same. Right? But can one find beauty even in the in- beautiful. Maybe, you be the judge.

La Guardia airport

Yes, I am back in Maine, right in the middle of winter. I am here for a few weeks to help/visit with Leslianna.

It is cold with some snow on the ground, but it is the ice that makes it so difficult to get around. Even so it is incredibly beautiful this time of the year.

Oh my, Icey paths everywhere.

Still there is nothing like a roaring fire on 12 degree day.

It’s nice and toasty inside.

We are expecting several more inches of snow tomorrow so my hope is, that it gets even more beautiful! I’ll let you know.

And Just Like That….We Are Home

We had intended to take a few more days to get home, but seeing as it was still 88 degrees in east Texas, we opted to get home a little earlier.

We spent a few days at one of my favorite parks, Caddo Lake State Park in Texas, where I have said many times you just can’t take a bad photo!

There is beauty everywhere at Caddo
Wow, what an experience!

This time I rode my e-bike over to the Caddo Lake National Wildlife Refuge. It is a very surreal park with lots of photo opportunities. During the 2nd World War it was manufacturer of a TNT. The factory’s are now just ruins.

A combination of ruins and forest. My favorite!

But now we are home. After 5 months there is a lot to unpack, but the photos and memories will last a lifetime.

Each dot is a place we stayed on our way home. Why do you think it took us almost a month to return to Texas?
