Two Very Different Parks

The first park we stayed in was an army corps park called Riffle Run Park in West Virginia. We secured the last available spot which, unfortunately came without electric. So even though it was closing in on 100 degrees—no ac! We were in full on sunshine, so it was a good test to see how well our solar system charged our 200 watt lithium batteries. Everything worked perfectly, exactly as it should, however you need a lot more watts to run an ac!

Lots of Sunshine

There were some nice things about the park.

Such as the very photogenic dam
A beautiful smallish lake.
Too bad this was a only a cell phone shot! Where is my big boy camera when you needed it?

The next park we moved to was New Germany State Park in Maryland. It couldn’t have been more different. Cooler temps, heavily wooded and electric for ac, which we barely needed anyway.

Yes Jack, that is a badly pasted in Photoshopped bear. They are here, but we didn’t see any.
There was great swimming!
And great tails for walks and bike rides.

It has been interesting not having internet or wifi for the last 4 days. There has been a lot of walking, riding, reading and just plain staring!

Tomorrow, if it doesn’t rain too heavily, we will head on into Peninsula. If not, we will just have to spend another night in this wonderful hidden gem of a park.

  1. [In case my previous attempts were rejected by WordPress]

Your “disconnect” is turning this into a real nature-based trip.

I assume you’re flying back to attend the GSACC meeting?

  2. Sounds great, Peter! Love you both so much. ❤️
