After a few false starts we are finally on our way to Maine. The first time we left, after on 15 miles, we developed a leak in the power steering cooler. Sounds simple but $700 and 5 days later we are off.
We spent one pleasant night in Bastrop State Park, and then 2 nights at one of my favorite places Radcliff Lake Rec Area in the Davey Crocket National Forest. We pretty much have the place to ourselves so it has been a good visit.

Tomorrow we leave for another one of my favorites Caddo Lake State Park.
So happy to see y’all are finally on your way. Happy trails!
Thanks Kim and good luck with your artist rep. I know that you will be famous soon. ________________________________
I love car trips, but I would have unpacked and given up after the challenging start you had. So bravo to both of you! Am trying to follow you trail through parks I have never heard of before. Vicarious adventurous joy.
Thanks Joan. Kim has told me so many stories of you I feel like I know you already. Sometime down the road I will be posting a map which should make it easier to follow.
Good to see you finally started your road trip. Can’t wait to see more of your adventures.
Thanks Jack. You can be with us in spirit.
So glad you are finally on the road and exploring beautiful places. ❤️
Thank you, We are looking forward to spending sometime with you all.
Ditto what Kim said, so glad you are rolling safely! Davey C looks like a great park! Live the elevated trails and water!
Thanks, looking forward to seeing you soon. ________________________________
Hi Peter (and Kim). Glad to see you’ve overcome the glitches. We loved visting Caddo Lake a few years ago. Jefferson is cute too.
Enjoy! Hope it’s not too hot.
Best from Shimon & Robin.
Looking forward to your chronicles along the way Safe travels❤️
Thanks John. Looking forward to catching up with you.
Only 95°? Must be a cooling trend. Or fire keeps the mosquitoes away. Kim looks entirely too relaxed. Maybe you can find some camp chores for her to do…lol.
Actually Kim already has too many chores to do. If I was a good enough partner I would take some of them over. Yesterday we had a big thunderstorm so than the temps dropped nicely but they are going up again tomorrow just as we head further north. You and Don are constantly in our thoughts. We miss you both.
Thanks, Peter
