Finally, We are on Our Way!

After a few false starts we are finally on our way to Maine. The first time we left, after on 15 miles, we developed a leak in the power steering cooler. Sounds simple but $700 and 5 days later we are off.

We spent one pleasant night in Bastrop State Park, and then 2 nights at one of my favorite places Radcliff Lake Rec Area in the Davey Crocket National Forest. We pretty much have the place to ourselves so it has been a good visit.

That’s me on my new electric bicycle exploring the CCC trail.
There are great elevated walkways though the pine forests
And here is Radcliff Lake in the morning.
It’s only 95 degrees outside so why not just relax by a nice fire?
Here are a few of the birds that my app was able to find.

Tomorrow we leave for another one of my favorites Caddo Lake State Park.

  1. I love car trips, but I would have unpacked and given up after the challenging start you had. So bravo to both of you! Am trying to follow you trail through parks I have never heard of before. Vicarious adventurous joy.

    • Thanks Joan. Kim has told me so many stories of you I feel like I know you already. Sometime down the road I will be posting a map which should make it easier to follow.

  2. Ditto what Kim said, so glad you are rolling safely! Davey C looks like a great park! Live the elevated trails and water!

  3. Hi Peter (and Kim). Glad to see you’ve overcome the glitches. We loved visting Caddo Lake a few years ago. Jefferson is cute too.

Enjoy! Hope it’s not too hot.

    Best from Shimon & Robin.

  4. Only 95°? Must be a cooling trend. Or fire keeps the mosquitoes away. Kim looks entirely too relaxed. Maybe you can find some camp chores for her to do…lol.
